“Sometimes life asks us to step back, and in that pause, we gather the strength to move forward in even bigger ways.” —Cheryl Cliney.
I met Cheryl in one of those life pauses, rather unwelcome by me at the time, and now so grateful for the doors it has opened. Cheryl is an excellent teacher in part because she continually remembers that she is also a student, not just of Tai Chi, but also of life. Her humanity, patience, and honesty creates a safe environment where her students are encouraged to learn at their own pace while listening to their bodies. A practitioner of Tai Chi for over twenty years, Cheryl has a deep knowledge of the art, but remains open to new ideas from her own studies and experiences that continue to broaden her expertise and help her meet the needs of her clients. If you find yourself in one of life’s pauses, take a deep breath, enroll in her class, improve your health, and feel the warmth.”

“I was an avid equestrian for most of my adult life. That being said, I sustained many broken bones and soft tissue injuries from riding over those years. I discovered during my 50s that I had osteopenia, which progressed to osteoporosis in my 60s, along with arthritic changes in my hip and back joints. I stopped riding in my late 60s for obvious reasons.
Because of chronic back pain, I am no longer able to walk or bike for very long. Yoga was next to impossible. I was losing leg strength, flexibility, and balance. Practicing Tai Qi and Qi Gong has been a lifesaver for me. My legs are as strong as when I was riding daily, and my balance is much better. My flexibility is also improving.
Cheryl is a terrific practitioner and teacher. She breaks everything down into simple steps to follow, and we practice each movement over and over so we really learn the movements! I just love the classes.
Thank you, Cheryl!”

“I have been taking Qi Gong and Tai Chi classes from Cheryl for 2 years. She uses multiple teaching approaches to ensure all students understand the exercises and have support to practice.
As a retired Nurse Practitioner, I am impressed with her attention to safe practice and her ability to address alternative ways of practicing for students with limitations. She has a very welcoming approach to anyone interested in learning. Her positive, encouraging approach helps me continue when I feel I am slow to pick up new movements. Basics are taught and reviewed throughout her lessons.
I came to the class with no experience of this form of exercise, and now can do the Yang 13 movement form.”
